by · Variety

Director-actress-producer Sadie Frost and producer Simon Jones have launched Frost & Jones, a production company developing premium documentary and scripted film and television.

The venture follows the critical and commercial performance of Frost’s documentary “Twiggy” and is designed to span both scripted and unscripted formats with an eye on international markets.

The anchor project is “The Story of Quadrophenia,” a feature documentary directed by Frost and developed alongside Extended Play’s Rachel Fuller, Universal Music Group’s Marc Robinson, Submarine Entertainment’s Daniel Braun, Film Soho’s Chris Greenhill and Nick Hamson and Parallax Soho’s Chris Wood.

The documentary examines the enduring cultural legacy of the Who’s album ”Quadrophenia” and its continuing evolution. It also captures behind-the-scenes access from a 2025 rock ballet adaptation of the material. Early conversations on international sales and distribution are underway with Submarine, Universal and Studio Soho. The Who’s Pete Townshend has given the project his full backing, with his manager Bill Curbishley also on board. The film is currently in production and has secured contributions from Ray Winstone, Phil Daniels, Gary Kemp, Lesley Ash, Toyah Willcox and Franc Roddam, among others.

“After ‘Twiggy,’ I wanted to keep exploring the people and moments that define our culture — stories that feel intimate, human and emotionally honest, but also cinematic and bold,” Frost said. “Frost & Jones is about making work that stays with you — that connects across generations and feels relevant right now.”

Also in the documentary pipeline is “Zandra,” developed with Derek Taylor and Rogan Prods.’ James Rogan and Clio David. The film traces designer Zandra Rhodes’ career from the 1960s and her influence on fashion, music and art.

On the scripted side, the company is developing “All Too Beautiful,” a biopic of Small Faces frontman Steve Marriott directed by Frost and written by Paolo Hewitt, adapted from Hewitt’s own award-winning book. The project is in development in association with Rosy Cross Prods.’ Tom Keenan. Also on the scripted slate is “Faded Grace,” a female-led psychological thriller co-written by Frost and Zoe Lewis, set across the present day and the 1990s. That project is being developed with Dreamtown Entertainment’s Ben Charles Edwards, Kirsty Bell and Phil McKenzie, alongside producer Emma Comley of Hooligan Dreamers.

Frost & Jones is also in active development with ITN Prods. — represented by Gorana Jelovina, Ricardo Pollack and Natalie Chow — on a feature documentary about a prominent British cultural figure, as yet unnamed, described as the country’s most iconic “It Girl.” Being developed alongside a key family member, the project will draw on previously unseen personal archive material from the subject’s early life.

“This is about building a modern production company with real intent — creatively ambitious, commercially focused, and globally minded,” Jones said. “We’re developing projects with scale, with partners who can move quickly, and with a clear eye on audience. There’s a real appetite for these stories internationally, and we’re already seeing strong early interest across the slate.”

The projects were unveiled at the Cannes Film Market.
