Tom Hardy Officially Returns for ‘MobLand’ Season 3 Following Spat Behind the Scenes

After months of unconfirmed reports about Tom Hardy’s status on Season 3 of Paramount+ series “MobLand,” we finally have an official answer: he’s back.

The streamer today confirmed one of the industry’s worst-kept secrets – that the show is coming back for a third season – and with that also acknowledged Variety‘s report from June that Hardy will be returning as Harry da Souza, the fixer for an Irish crime family headed by Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren’s Conrad and Maeve Harrigan.

Earlier this year a behind-the-scenes spat between Hardy, screenwriter Jez Butterworth and producer David Glasser spilled into the public sphere when it was claimed Hardy had been fired from the show.

Variety ascertained that wasn’t quite accurate and that while tensions were real — with accusations flying in all directions over Hardy’s on-set behavior, Butterworth’s unavailability and Glasser’s no-nonsense stance with actors — the trio were attempting to solve their creative differences.

Director Guy Ritchie and Paramount+ Glasser were among those keen to ensure Hardy came back.

Clearly their support worked as the streamer confirmed Hardy’s da Souza is back for more shenanigans in Season 3.

Season 2 launches on Sept. 18, with episodes dropping weekly. The second season will see the Harrigans “struggle to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire,” according to the logline, “and Harry Da Souza, their street-smart and formidable ‘fixer,’ must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions within the family intensify.”

Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson are among those who also appear in Season 2.
