‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 35 Adds Savannah Bananas Player; Disney+ to Stream Live Banana Bowl Game

Savannah Bananas second baseman Jackson Olson is hoping to knock it out of the ballroom in Season 35 of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.”

He joins previously announced celebrity contestants Maura Higgins (“The Traitors,” “Love Island”) and Ciara Miller (“Summer House”). The full cast of celebs and professional dancers will be announced on Sept. 2.

The news comes out of the Disney upfronts, where the company also announced that Disney+ will become the exclusive home of the Banana Bowl, streaming live this October.

Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough host the long-running dance competition series, which pairs celebrities with trained ballroom dancers to compete in themed choreographed dance routines. Jusges are Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough. The show is produced in front of a live audience by BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions.

For Season 34, Robert Irwin and Witney Carson were champions; social media personality Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy were second place, Olympic artistic gymnast Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa finished third, reality television personality Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach wound up fourth and actress Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten finished fifth.

Irwin will host this summer’s “Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro.”

The Banana Bowl will stream live on Disney+ and feature the top teams in the Banana Ball league facing off for the season championship. Known for blending athleticism with entertainment, the game will include one of the biggest performances the league has ever seen, bringing together all six teams, along with its signature on-field showmanship from first pitch to final out.

Meanwhile, Disney+ has partnered with the Savannah Bananas to air games on ESPN and Disney+, and the “Banana Bowl” will stream live on Disney+, featuring teams in the “Banana Ball” league playing the the season championship.
