‘MasterChef México’ to Launch First Live, 24/7 Version of the Hit Global Food Franchise (EXCLUSIVE)

MasterChef” is going all-live, all-the-time in Mexico. EndemolShine Boomdog, part of Banijay Americas, announced Thursday that “MasterChef 24/7” — the the first live, 24/7 version of the culinary competition franchise, will launch this spring.

“MasterChef 24/7” will feature both a broadcast component via TV Azteca, along with a 24/7 stream via Disney+ and a digital element as well.

“MasterChef México 24/7” will premiere May 17 on TV Azteca. Per the logline, “For the first time, contestants will live, train and compete under one roof in a purpose-built environment designed to elevate technique, mentorship and professional development. The format increases transparency around the discipline and craft required to succeed, shifting the focus from observation to skill-based progression.”

Along with the live streaming across digital platforms, TV Azteca will air live episodes including 2-hour primetime episodes Monday through Friday, along with a three-hour Sunday episode featuring the show’s “Grand Elimination Challenge.” On digital, audiences will see training sessions, technical instruction, team challenges and judges deliberations in real-time. Weekday elements include a defined culinary test (including the “MasterChef Mystery Box”), technical pressure challenges, team competitions, creativity focused assignments and a “Salvation Challenge.”

“MasterChef México” is hosted by Claudia Lizaldi, with judges Chef Adrián Herrera, Chef Zahie Téllez and Chef Poncho Cadena.

“MasterChef has sustained global relevance because it evolves without compromising its core,” said EndemolShine Boomdog chief content officer Frank Scheuermann. “This model expands access to the process while protecting the integrity of the competition as viewers gain greater visibility into mentorship, technique, and progression.”

Banijay Entertainment represents the “MasterChef” format globally. There are more than 70 local adaptations and over 700 seasons that have produced of the franchise.

“The strength of the MasterChef brand means we can adapt and scale while still delivering the creativity, warmth and aspirational food storytelling audiences love,” Banijay Entertainment chief content officer Lucas Green said. “‘MasterChef 24/7’ will give viewers unprecedented access to the inner workings of the ‘MasterChef’ journey, forging a greater connection with the show’s community across linear and digital platforms.”

“MasterChef México,” produced by EndemolShine Boomdog, premiered in 2015 on TV Azteca. The original “MasterChef” format was created by Franc Roddam and first launched in the UK in 1990. The franchise has also expanded via spinoffs such as Brazil’s “MasterChef Creators,” as well as through consumer products and live experiences.

EndemolShine Boomdog is also behind “La Casa de los Famosos,” a 24/7 format that produces a U.S. version for Telemundo and a Mexico version for Televisa. The success of “La Casa de los Famosos” (based on the “Big Brother” format) now leads to a similar twist to “MasterChef.”
