by Kyan Koh · WORLD OF BUZZMotorists and hikers travelling along the winding road between Fraser’s Hill and Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB) have been urged to stay alert after a Malayan tiger was spotted roaming near the roadside.
According to Berita Harian, the sighting was shared in a viral Threads post showing the large predator lingering near the forest edge along the road. The tiger was reportedly spotted near the Gus Gap Chorocco Trek area, about 1km from the Fraser’s Hill junction towards KKB.
Motorists advised to exercise caution
Following the sighting, a warning was issued to motorists and hikers using the route, urging them to exercise caution and avoid stopping or getting too close to the wild animal.
The post also advised road users not to wind down their car windows or get out of their vehicles, as the tiger had been spotted roaming along the roadside.
Perhilitan steps in to investigate
Following reports of the tiger sighting, Pahang’s Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) deployed a four-man team to the area near Raub to investigate.
BERNAMA reported that the Pahang Perhilitan director Yusoff Shariff said that the wildlife officers had installed four camera traps in the surrounding forest to monitor the tiger’s movements and gather information.
Officers also found tracks in the grass near electricity poles, while auxiliary police personnel in the area reported having seen the animal themselves.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the area and have urged anyone who spots the tiger not to approach or attempt to handle the situation themselves. Instead, members of the public are advised to report any sightings to Perhilitan immediately.
