“An experience I wouldn’t trade for anything” – M’sian Running Late For Work Gets Help From Kind Uncle During A Parade In Kedah
by Kyan Koh · WORLD OF BUZZFor one Malaysian woman riding her motorcycle to work in Alor Setar, Kedah, an unexpected road closure turned what should have been a stressful morning commute into a heartwarming and memorable, experience!
In a post on Threads, user @nm.rhmn shared how she found herself riding right through the middle of a local festival procession after discovering that major roads were closed for the event.
“Uncle” steps in as a personal VIP escort
Not knowing how to navigate around the roadblock to reach her workplace by 8:00 AM, she pulled up near a police officer to ask for directions. Seeing her predicament, a helpful uncle participating in the festival overheard the conversation and immediately offered to clear a path for her.
Walking ahead on foot, the uncle kindly guided her through the crowd while she slowly followed behind on her motorcycle.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, she recalled how surreal and funny the entire moment felt as curious onlookers watched her ride through the middle of the procession.
“When I found myself riding my motorcycle right through the middle of the procession, people were looking at me curiously.
“Some were smiling, while others laughed when I told them I was already late for work! It was such an unexpected situation, and their reactions made the whole experience even more memorable,” she said
Still late for work, but grateful for the kindness
Despite receiving her very own VIP parade escort, she admitted that she still ended up arriving at her workplace late.
“Unfortunately, I still arrived about 30 minutes late! Despite getting my very own VIP escort, I couldn’t escape being late that day.
“But honestly, it was an experience I wouldn’t trade for anything. It definitely made what would have been an ordinary day at work much more memorable!,” she added.
Before parting ways, she asked the helpful uncle for a selfie to commemorate his sweet gesture. She later discovered through comments on her Threads post that the kind man is known locally as “Mr Chia.”
A heart-warming display of Malaysian unity
Netizens quickly flooded her post with praise for “Mr Chia” and loved how harmonious and supportive the encounter was. For the motorcyclist, the simple act of kindness left a lasting impression.
“I never imagined that an ordinary trip to work could turn into such a memorable experience. It was such a simple act of kindness, but it made a lasting impression on me,” she said.
