by Azri Azizan · WORLD OF BUZZEnforcement officers from the Johor Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ), once again, caught a couple for khalwat in the state capital of Johor Bahru.
Following a public tip-off, JAINJ enforcement officers paid a visit to a double-storey house at 2:15 AM, and after ten minutes of knocking, a man in his 60s opened the door.
A man in his 60s was caught for khalwat with a woman in her 20s in Johor Bahru
Without wasting time, the officers went into the house for an inspection and found a woman in her 20s lying on the couch.
During interrogation, JAINJ found that the man is a single grandfather, while the young woman is from a northern state in Peninsular Malaysia but currently working in Johor Bahru.
The man claims the woman was there to take care of him
“We don’t even need to check if the bed was messy. They were the only two there, so it was clearly khalwat,” a JAINJ spokesperson remarked on Facebook.
The spokesperson added that the house belongs to the man, who claimed that the woman was there to take care of him as he was ill. Furthermore, given his condition, he claimed he was worried about staying alone.
When asked about his illness, the man said that sometimes he faints or is unable to see things.
JAINJ officers then asked if the pair had plans to tie the knot, which could ease things for the man who needs someone to take care of him.
The man revealed that they do have plans to get married, but are worried about societal perceptions due to the age gap.
