M’sian School Teachers & Staff Applauded For Successfully Putting Out Classroom Fire With 20 Fire Extinguishers

by · WORLD OF BUZZ

Things at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Setia Alam, Shah Alam, took a terrifying turn yesterday afternoon when a classroom suddenly caught fire.

However, amidst the panic, the quick thinking and teamwork shown by the school staff managed to prevent a much worse tragedy before the fire department even arrived.

Heard students screaming and sprang into action

According to a viral Threads post by @nasikerabu_abeysyed who is also a teacher at the school, he said the terrifying incident began around 4:13 PM when students started screaming.

The individual immediately dropped everything upon hearing the cries. Without wasting a second, he and other school staff rushed out to haul around 15 to 20 fire extinguishers from various levels and blocks.

“Sprayed non-stop… in about 10 to 12 minutes the fire was successfully brought under control, by God’s grace,” the user wrote, describing the intense battle against the flames.

Teachers and staff worked seamlessly together: female teachers swiftly secured and guided students to the field, while male teachers called the emergency services and joined administrative staff, canteen operators, security guards, and the school gardener to fight the blaze.

They also thoroughly checked every single classroom in Block D to ensure no students were left behind.

The teacher also recalled a school fire drill held just a couple of days before the incident, as well as an earlier evening session fire drill on December 9, 2025. Ironically, the lessons learned during those safety practices were put to the ultimate test when a real classroom fire broke out on September 14, 2026.

Bomba confirms zero casualties

As the situation on the ground was brought under control by the staff, excitement swept through the evacuation area. When the long-awaited fire engine finally pulled into the school compound, the kids cheered, thrilled to see the real-life heroes arrive to secure the area.

Meanwhile, according to Kosmo!, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar confirmed that they received an emergency call at 4:20 PM.

A fire engine and four personnel from the Bukit Jelutong Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene, arriving in roughly 17 minutes.

Upon arrival, firefighters noted that the 55.74-square-meter classroom was completely destroyed. However, the fire had already been fully extinguished by the school staff themselves before the authorities got there.

Firefighters conducted thorough checks to ensure no hidden hot spots remained. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported as all students had been safely evacuated to the field by 4:13 PM.
