Tun M Admitted To IJN For Routine Treatment After Lack Of Sleep And Rest Following Tun Dr Hasmah’s Passing

Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) yesterday (29 September) for routine treatment.

His press secretary, Sufi Yusoff, said Tun M was feeling exhausted and had not been getting enough sleep following the passing of his wife, the late Tun Dr Hasmah Mohamad Ali, last Monday (28 September).

 

Tun M gets admitted to IJN for routine treatment

Sufi said the emotional toll, hot weather and lack of rest were not a good combination for someone who is 101 years old, according to Berita Harian.

Previously, we reported that Dr Hasmah passed away at IJN at the age of 100, with her remains were laid to rest at the Heroes’ Mausoleum (Pusara Negara) in Precinct 20, Putrajaya.

She was accorded the State Funeral Ceremony in recognition of her service.

 

Tun M remained by her side until her final moments

Following her passing, Tun M said his wife had appeared to be in good health the night before, and admitted that he did not expect her sudden passing.

Meanwhile, their son, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, shared that his father remained by Dr Hasmah’s side until her final moments.

Another son, Mokhzani Mahathir, said their mother had been cheerful and in good spirits the night before, but her health suddenly deteriorated the following day.
