Married Man Found Hiding Outside 13th‑Floor Condo Window to Evade Khalwat Arrest in Melaka

by · WORLD OF BUZZ

A man risked his life by hiding beneath an air-conditioning compressor outside the 13th-floor window of a condominium in Kota Laksamana in Melaka to evade being caught for alleged khalwat.

The 26-year-old man was found lying underneath the unit’s compressor during an inspection conducted by enforcement officers from the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) at about 1:40 AM on Friday (10 April).

According to a source, the man was with his 25-year-old partner and had initially refused to open the door when officers arrived to carry out checks following a tip-off.

“At first, the woman tried to mislead the enforcement officers by claiming that no one else was inside the unit.”

“However, after officers inspected the corridor and the area outside the unit’s window, they discovered the man lying shirtless beneath the air-conditioning compressor,” the source said.

Man was married

Investigations found that the man, who works as a marketing executive, admitted that he was married but currently undergoing divorce proceedings, while the woman is still single.

“Both of them admitted that they do not have a mahram relationship and are not legally married to each other. They were detained under Section 53 of the Melaka Syariah Offences Enactment 1991 for suspected khalwat.”

“When a Muslim man and a Muslim woman who are not mahram or legally married are found together in a state of cohabitation, seclusion or privacy that gives rise to suspicion, it constitutes an offence,” the source said.

The couple was subsequently brought to the JAIM office for further action.
