M’sian E-hailing Driver Shares Kind Gesture From Pakistani Man Who Refuses Discount & Treats Him To Dinner After 84km Trip
by Kyan Koh · WORLD OF BUZZA Malaysian e-hailing driver recently experienced incredible hospitality firsthand when a long-distance ride turned into a heartwarming dinner invitation from his passenger.
Taking to Threads, user @hafiz_pzi shared his unforgettable experience taking a Pakistani passenger on an 84-kilometer trip from Parit Raja to Kukup, Pontian.
“Luck as a part-time Grab driver today, got a Pakistani passenger. Job from Pt. Raja to Kukup Pontian. He was so friendly, he even invited me to stop by a Pakistani eatery and treated me to food,” he wrote in his post.
Chemistry graduate working in construction to support family back home
During the nearly 84 km drive, the duo struck up a deep conversation. The passenger shared stories about his family back in Lahore, Pakistan, and revealed that despite holding a university degree in Chemistry, he had been working in Malaysia’s construction sector for over 10 years due to limited job opportunities back home.
Before reaching his final destination, the passenger requested a quick stop at a pharmacy for some gastric medication. As they chatted, Hafiz asked if it was true that Malaysian tourists receive warm hospitality in Pakistan.
“He confirmed that it’s true! Malaysians visiting Pakistan are treated like very special guests. Because of that, he invited me to stop by a Pakistani restaurant for a meal.
“He actually wanted to host me at the house he was heading to, but since there was no food prepared there, he took me to the eatery instead. He treated me and recommended various authentic Pakistani dishes like Chicken Biryani, Naan, and Chapli Kebab,” he added.
Insisted on paying extra despite fare discount offer
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Hafiz shared how deeply touched he was by the man’s genuine kindness throughout the journey.
“It truly warmed my heart. He was so genuinely kind.
“Even when I offered him a discount on the fare, he politely refused and insisted on paying extra instead, telling me, ‘Don’t worry, I’ll be working tomorrow and earning money again.’ It was a really touching and unforgettable experience for me as a driver.” He shared with WORLD OF BUZZ.
Hafiz then added that he appreciated how the man was working in Malaysia legally, abiding by the laws, paying all his work permit fees, and hoping to return to Pakistan once he had saved enough money.
