Want a gaming screen bigger than a phone without carrying a full-size tablet? Acer’s Shadow Knight G710 weighs about 355 grams and pairs an 8.8-inch 3K display with 5G and a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chip.
Price: 4,099 yuan (About $615)

That mix gives the G710 a practical advantage away from Wi-Fi, but chip speed is a different question. The Dimensity 8300 isn’t a current flagship, and actual frame rates will depend on the game and thermal performance.
For buyers, the choice is clear: consider the G710 for a compact screen and cellular access, but wait for hands-on testing if gaming speed comes first. Check the supported bands before importing one.

An 8.8-Inch Display With a 165Hz Mode
The Acer G710 features an 8.8-inch LCD with a resolution of 3,008 × 1,880 pixels and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Its native refresh rate is 144Hz, with an overclocked mode reaching 165Hz.
That distinction matters because 165Hz isn’t the panel’s standard operating mode. Games must also support sufficiently high frame rates to benefit from the faster refresh rate.
The combination of high resolution and fast refresh rates could benefit games where responsive movement and detailed visuals are important. However, the display specifications don’t guarantee that every game will run at 144fps or 165fps.
The 16:10 aspect ratio provides additional vertical space compared with conventional widescreen displays, making the tablet useful for reading, browsing, and everyday applications.
Dimensity 8300 Hardware and Storage Options
The G710 uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 8300 processor, an eight-core chipset manufactured using a 4nm process. It reaches clock speeds of up to 3.35GHz and includes Mali-G615 graphics.
The processor supports demanding Android applications, although actual gaming performance will depend on individual titles, graphics settings, and thermal management. It also sits below newer flagship chipsets used in competing gaming tablets.
Acer offers two configurations. The entry-level model combines 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM with 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage, while the higher configuration increases memory to 12GB and storage to 512GB.
The additional capacity could be useful for players who keep several large games installed. Modern mobile titles can occupy substantial storage once updates and downloadable content are included.
The tablet runs Android 15, but Acer hasn’t detailed its long-term software update policy. Buyers planning to keep it for several years should consider that uncertainty alongside hardware performance.
5G Connectivity for Gaming Away From Wi-Fi
One of the G710’s distinguishing features is built-in 5G cellular connectivity. Many compact gaming tablets depend entirely on Wi-Fi, making them less convenient when traveling or playing away from home.
With a compatible mobile network and data plan, the G710 can connect to online games without relying on public Wi-Fi or a smartphone hotspot. This also provides another connection option for downloads and cloud-based services.
However, 5G doesn’t guarantee low latency. Signal strength, network congestion, and server location can affect multiplayer performance regardless of the connection type.
The tablet also supports dual-band Wi-Fi. Buyers outside China should verify cellular band compatibility before importing the device.
Compact Hardware With Two USB-C Ports
The Acer G710 weighs approximately 355 grams and measures less than 7mm thick. Its compact dimensions make it easier to carry than larger tablets, particularly for people who prefer holding a device with both hands.
Acer includes two USB-C ports, which could provide additional flexibility when connecting accessories. However, the published specifications don’t establish their data-transfer speeds or confirm which functions each port supports.
The tablet also has dual speakers, an 8-megapixel front camera, and a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus. These provide basic multimedia and communication features, although photographic performance hasn’t been independently established.
Power comes from a 6,300mAh battery supporting 33W wired charging. Actual gaming endurance will depend on display settings, processor demand, and cellular usage.
Price and Availability
In China, the Acer Shadow Knight G710 starts at 4,099 yuan for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model. The 12GB RAM and 512GB storage configuration costs 4,999 yuan. These are Chinese-market prices, not official US retail prices.
The G710 comes in Red Eye Silver and Shadow Gray. Acer hasn’t announced international pricing or availability.
Who Should Consider the Acer G710?
The Acer G710 is aimed at Android gamers who want a compact tablet with a sharp, high-refresh-rate display and cellular connectivity. Its 8.8-inch format could appeal to people who find smartphones too small but don’t want a larger tablet.
However, the Dimensity 8300 faces competition from newer flagship processors, while the Chinese-market pricing isn’t particularly low. Buyers prioritizing maximum gaming performance may find more powerful alternatives worth considering.

At about 355g, the G710 combines a portable size with 5G, but the Chinese listing doesn’t establish which bands an imported unit supports. US buyers should wait for local availability or confirm carrier compatibility before importing, since the tablet’s biggest travel advantage could otherwise be unusable.
