Man held in connection with murder of Paula Canty in Cork

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman in Mallow, Co Cork last week.

The body of 31-year-old Paula Canty was found at her home on Friday morning.

The mother of two was originally from Kinsale in Co Cork and had only moved to Mallow in recent months.

A murder investigation was launched following a post-mortem examination.

The results were not released by gardaí, but it is understood that Ms Canty had been stabbed in the chest.

The man who was arrested is aged in his 40s.

He is being held at a garda station in the southern region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
