British singer Lauren Bennett, who featured on LMFAO's 2011 hit Party Rock Anthem, has died.

Her former girl group G.R.L. announced her death in an Instagram post on Monday, describing Bennett as a "beautiful spirit" who would be "deeply missed".

"It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren," the group said.

"Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us. We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us.

"Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved."

The group added: "Rest peacefully, sweet Lauren. You will always be in our hearts."

No cause of death was given.

Kent County Council’s inquest schedule lists Lauren Bennett-Wormald, aged 36, as having died on 29 May. An inquest is listed for 30 October.

Bennett featured alongside LMFAO and GoonRock on Party Rock Anthem, one of the defining pop hits of 2011.

The track was a major hit in Ireland, spending four weeks at number one and 26 weeks on the Irish singles chart. It was also the fourth biggest-selling single in Ireland that year.

Before Party Rock Anthem, Bennett was a member of the girl group Paradiso Girls, whose 2009 single Patron Tequila featured Lil Jon and Eve.

In 2013, she joined G.R.L., the group created by Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin.

G.R.L.’s debut single Vacation featured on the soundtrack to Smurfs 2, while its biggest UK hit, Ugly Heart, reached number 11 on the singles chart in 2014.

Following the death of G.R.L. bandmate Simone Battle later that year, the group released the tribute single Lighthouse and worked with the mental health charity Give an Hour.

The group later disbanded before briefly reuniting in 2020.

Bennett’s former Paradiso Girls bandmate Aria Crescendo also paid tribute in an Instagram post.

"RIP Lauren, my sister, my best friend. I can’t believe you left us," Crescendo wrote.

"We spoke a week before it all happened and I could not imagine that would be the last time I would be able to talk to you. Love you and miss you forever."
