Watch: Meath brothers hope to bring sports cream to US
by Shauna Burdis, https://www.facebook.com/rtenews/ · RTE.ieFour months on from taking the top prize at Enterprise Ireland's Student Entrepreneur Awards, two brothers in their 20s from Co Meath have set their sights on bringing their muscle-recovery cream to the US market.
Hugh and Rory Staunton have developed AURA Sports Cream, a natural pharmaceutical product, for athletes and fitness enthusiasts.
They came up with the idea while travelling in Austria, where they noticed how natural warming remedies were being used by skiers.
Once back in Ireland, they created their own natural muscle rub, which contains a range of natural ingredients, including, chilli pepper extract, wintergreen, arnica, menthol, camphor, rosemary, juniper and aloe vera.
"The two of us got our heads together, we looked into natural ingredients that worked quick, that were effective and that were really good for both athletes and people with aches and pains", said Hugh.
The product is already stocked in over 500 pharmacies across Ireland, and the brothers are hoping to expand to the UK, Europe and the United States, where Rory is currently located.
"Persistence has been key for us. Invariably, you come across plenty of challenges when you're starting up a business - we did, and I'm sure we'll have many more over the next few months.
"But when you overcome a challenge it makes your business stronger," Hugh said.
