Cam Schlittler, Trey Yesavage ready for first battle they hope is ‘start of something really cool’

The past and future collide in the present Wednesday at Yankee Stadium.

Cam Schlittler and Trey Yesavage — the two fresh-faced pitchers who spun double-digit strikeout gems last October — will duel for the first time in their careers when the Yankees host the Blue Jays.

“Hopefully we’re facing each other for the next X amount of years,” Schlittler, 25, said before Tuesday’s second game of a four-game series. “That’s the situation you want to be in. He’s a good young player. I think it’ll be a fun matchup for both sides.”
