During a recent interview with CNBC’s Council Forum, McIlroy explained that he’s been traveling with the prestigious jacket while playing on the DP World Tour and told his wife, Erica Stoll, to “punch me” if he complains about wearing it.

“I was in India a few weeks ago and I was in the Middle East the last two weeks, and most places you go, if you’re doing events, the people want to see the green jacket,” McIlroy said. “So you bring the green jacket with you, and sometimes you don’t want to wear it, you know? You don’t want to. I sort of complained about wearing it in Abu Dhabi.

“I’m sort of wondering what we are going to talk about going into next year’s Masters. I’m honored and thrilled and so proud to call myself a Masters champion.”
