Kamala Harris’ Fox News interview: Letters to the Editor — Oct. 18, 2024

The Issue: Vice President Kamala Harris’ interview with Fox News host Bret Baier

Vice President Kamala Harris’ interview on Fox News was extremely disappointing for anybody hoping to find out what her positions are on the most critical issues Americans are facing (“Baier claws Kamala,” Oct. 17).

She spent the majority of her time with Bret Baier essentially filibustering, saying virtually nothing about what she would do as president (except follow the law). She continued to preach to us about how dangerous former President Donald Trump would be to our democracy, despite his successful first term.

Baier was too deferential to Harris. He could have buried her on immigration and the border but failed to draw blood, allowing her to say that Trump killed the bill instead of taking accountability.

He could have gotten her on her flawed Middle East policy, which has emboldened Iran, but he swung and missed. There were many openings, but Bret fired few punches. This enabled Kamala to fly off as the winner (kind of).

If The Post wants to claim Harris didn’t answer certain questions, maybe consider the fact that Baier did not ask her the correct questions

He went in trying to do a hatchet job on Harris, but he found the opponent was up to the challenge. It likely threw him off his game. He and the Fox News audience had set such a low bar for the veep to reach that she soared over it.

Harris’ interview with Bret Baier was nothing if not predictable. She tried to talk louder than Brett and shut him up with her terse answers. She put him on the spot by trying to make him look like a bully if he interrupted.

She didn’t give one good answer about how many illegal immigrants she and her boss let into our country. She didn’t answer on taxpayers funding sex-change operations for incarcerated migrants.

Asked about how she overlooked President Biden’s cognitive impairment, she immediately turned it against Trump, saying he was unfit for office.

Harris was an absolute disgrace doing the interview on Fox.

She dodged every question by bringing Trump into the mix. She was arrogant, rude and seemed totally lost with every question presented to her. Bret Baier was a complete gentleman and professional in trying to keep her on track. This person may very well be our next president. I personally find that idea to be terrifying.

Bret Baier’s interview with Harris was applauded by Fox News commentators, which is unnerving for me.
Fox obviously is in opposition to Harris on all the major issues, and is promoting her opponent for the most part.

Baier barely let the VP speak or answer questions. When she did, Harris was articulate in answering and justifying her vision for America.

If Baier had treated Trump in a similar fashion during an interview, the former president would have walked out halfway through and called Baier ugly names. Fox is putting the Republican party ahead of “We the People.”

Prefacing many of her responses to Baier’s interview questions with the phrase “let me be clear,” Kamala Harris was anything but.

This was a maneuver that proved clarifying to this voter, because Harris showed us that apparently she does not believe we deserve to know what she has in mind for our country.

Or perhaps she fears that if we got clear answers from her, she might lose potential voters.
