Naomi Osaka ‘doesn’t give a f–k’ about US Open outfit backlash

Naomi Osaka fired back at those who were turned off by her extravagant pre-match outfits during the 2026 U.S. Open.

Osaka made clear Tuesday what she thinks about people who weren’t fans of her fashion statements before each of her four matches after falling in the Round of 16 on Monday.

“You know… idgaf [I don’t give a f–k] if you don’t like me. I don’t mind being the first to do something and getting trashed for it. This happened when I talked about mental health and for some reason it’s happening with my clothes lol,” Osaka wrote on Threads. “I’m literally Haitian it’s in my blood to be this way, as long as the people after me have an easier path it’s worth it.”

Osaka, a two-time U.S. Open champion and four-time Grand Slam winner, was seeded No. 13 this year and fell to No. 2 seed Elena Rybakina 6-1, 6-4 at Louis Armstrong Stadium.

Before her loss to Rybakina, Osaka took the court in a long fur coat designed by KidSuper.

The 28-year-old finishes her 2026 slam season having reached the third round of the Australia Open, fourth round of the French Open and quarterfinals at Wimbledon.

Last week, Osaka issued another pointed message on her Threads account.

“I refuse to be confined by the box you attempt to put me in,” she wrote.
