Breaking down the potential suitors for Daniel Jones after his Giants release
· New York PostHere’s a look at potential suitors for Daniel Jones’ next team.
We’re listing them by most compelling scenarios first.
Cowboys
This would be a fascinating, delicious scenario not only because Dallas is a rival of the Giants, but because the two teams play each other on Thanksgiving.
Dak Prescott is out for the season and Jones would be an upgrade to backup Cooper Rush.
Stephen Jones, the Cowboys’ executive vice president, said on Friday the team isn’t interested in signing Jones, but with the Cowboys you never know.
Jets
Another fascinating possibility.
The Jets are likely done with Aaron Rodgers after this season and will be in need of a “bridge” veteran QB if they draft one in April.
The Jets’ current backup is Tyrod Taylor, who backed up Jones with the Giants.
Raiders
Gardner Minshew has not been the answer at starter, throwing just eight touchdowns to nine interceptions. Las Vegas is 2-6 with Minshew at quarterback.
His backup, Aidan O’Connell, hasn’t been any better, 0-2 while throwing for 455 yards with two TDs and two interceptions.
Panthers
Bryce Young, the 2023 No. 1 overall pick, has struggled and been benched, though he has led the team to two straight victories and could be making a case to get another shot next season.
His backup, Andy Dalton, is 37.
Dolphins
Starter Tua Tagovailoa is highly injury-prone with a concussion history.
He’s already missed more than a month this season and the Dolphins struggled badly in his absence.
Colts
Anthony Richardson has tapped back in after tapping out and is playing better.
His backup, Joe Flacco, is old and likely finished after this season.
