On a gray, dreary and very long day and night at Yankee Stadium, after a three-hour, 35-minute rain delay and game that was nearly as drawn-out as the wait, the Yankees revealed that their near-perfect start was achieved by a team that may not be quite so perfect, after all.

One we figured, the other is a surprise.

But they both stand as legitimate concerns, at least for today, after the Yankees lost 7-6 to the Marlins after a depressing experience that lasted a whopping six hours and 59 minutes (counting the wait, plus a game that went three hours and 24 minutes). It was a lot of work for a wholly dissatisfying result, certainly for the fans who braved the elements and endured the disappointment of a blown lead and wasted opportunity to match the 1988, 2003 and 2020 Yankee teams for the best nine-game start in franchise history.
