Niners stars questionable for showdown vs Broncos

The 49ers still don’t know whether they will have Mike Evans on Sunday.

The 13-year veteran was listed as questionable on the Niners’ final injury report before they host the Broncos. He didn’t participate in practice this week after being carted off in the win over the Cardinals with a rib injury that left him in serious discomfort.

Kyle Shanahan wasn’t ready to rule the 33-year-old out yet, though. The head coach broke his ribs in a July car crash and said that he “would be out without a doubt.”

“[Evans] is definitely a lot tougher than me,” Shanahan said, “so hopefully we’ve got a shot.”

Set to face his former team, linebacker Dre Greenlaw is also listed as questionable with the quad contusion that knocked him out of last week’s game after not practicing this week.

The 49ers could miss another linebacker after the latest addition to their injury report. Rookie Jaden Dugger, who has been the third linebacker in formations that call for one, injured his shoulder in practice Thursday, according to Shanahan, and will be a game-time decision.

Dugger wasn’t the only Niner to go down Thursday. In his first practice since signing with their practice squad, receiver Dante Pettis injured his calf. He didn’t participate on Friday.

Defensive end Keion White (hamstring) is questionable, while Nick Bosa (calf), Mykel Williams (PUP) and defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. (ankle) were all ruled out for Sunday. The 49ers hope they will be able to activate Williams next week when he is eligible, and Bosa may not be far behind.

In a positive spin, Trent Williams’ name was nowhere to be found. The All-Pro left tackle left last week’s game with a stinger in his neck and sat out practice Wednesday but returned Thursday.
