Clock is ticking for Yankees to change the harsh reality of their playoff reputation

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Yankees have a few days this week to demonstrate that when the playoff going gets tough, they don’t just get going toward their offseason golf game.

Until proven otherwise, they are the Boone Bullies. Capable of outdoing inferiors and the AL Central in the postseason, and wilting when their equal or better shows up.

The Red Sox with their feeble offense and inexplicable managing decisions?

No problem.
