Jets takeaways, report card from NFL Week 17 loss to Patriots

· New York Post

Takeaways from the Jets’ 42-10 loss to the Patriots on Sunday:

1. You can get worked up over the Patriots blowing the Jets’ doors off if you want. The 42-10 loss was ugly and embarrassing and every other word you want to use. But you also have to look at what the Jets are rolling out there right now. These are the JV Jets, led by rookie quarterback Brady Cook. The Jets have many players starting right now that have no business starting. Some of them are just not ready. Others never will be ready.

It’s not really worthwhile to make any determinations right now about coaching or effort or the future of the team. It looks ugly because it should look ugly. The Jets are rolling out a terrible lineup against a playoff team. If you looked at Sunday’s starting lineup, there are probably eight players who started for the Jets who I would expect to be in the starting lineup in Week 1 next season.

If you want to take issue with Aaron Glenn’s coaching job this season, look at the 0-7 start to the season when the Jets were actually fielding the team they built in the offseason. These are just the zombie Jets.
