Once a Knicks draft bust, Kevin Knox sees chance to finally stick in NBA

Kevin Knox didn’t want to go. He’d spent time in the NBA with the Pistons at the start of last season before getting traded to the Jazz in February and waived the next day.

His career — which started as the No. 9 pick in the 2018 draft, by the Knicks, and then spiraled from there — had stalled, and now, after bouncing around and in the middle of a season, there was no clear path back.

So he joined the G-League’s Rip City Remix for the rest of the campaign. He’d been with the Trail Blazers before, and that stint with their affiliate eventually led to a summer league spot with the Warriors and time with their G-League team. And when Golden State arrived at the Garden on Tuesday to face the Knicks, Knox, finally, was back in the NBA on a second 10-day deal.

His role remains limited on a contending team filled with stars such as Steph Curry and Draymond Green, but after years of instability, Knox has a chance to stick for the rest of the season once the deal expires next week, too.
