It's Thursday, January 1, and one star sign is excited about the future. There are 12 zodiac signs - Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces - and each sign has its own daily horoscope which some believe can forecast a person's future, whether it be in work, your love life, your friends and family or other aspects of life.

Horoscopes typically describe a sign's character and circumstances, based on the relative positions of the stars and planets at the time of that person's birth. Astrologer Russell Grant, who has been reading star signs for over 50 years, has compiled a full list of daily forecasts from Aries through to Pisces.

Here's what today could bring for your horoscope.

  1. Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 20)

    Some experiences will not be what you expected. Someone you meet will put an interesting proposition your way or a relative’s announcement will catch you off guard. There seems to be nothing routine about today’s events. Your enthusiasm for life is amplified; you’re keen to add to your knowledge and excited about the future.

  2. Taurus (Apr 21 - May 21)

    Some meaningful discussions will relate to your plans for having more fun over the months to come. Matters relating to children can also be discussed and settled harmoniously. A colleague wants to make changes and they will get your full support. A romantic partner is wanting to know your hopes for the long-term future.

  3. Gemini (May 22 - June 21)

    You’re looking to the future and hoping to create long-term strategies for managing finances, shared funds and jointly owned items. In fact all matters related to inheritances, debts, taxes and insurance. For this reason you will be taking this chance to clarify your hopes for the year ahead. Discussions are heavy but necessary.

  1. Cancer (June 22 - July 23)

    A stroll around the block will help clear the cobwebs in your mind.
