SALT LAKE CITY — An Eagle Mountain man was charged Wednesday with firing multiple rounds at a group in the parking lot near a Salt Lake nightclub during a fight.

Diego Campos-Andrade, 25, is charged in 3rd District Court with aggravated assault resulting in serious injury, a second-degree felony; plus 12 counts of discharge of a firearm, one second-degree felony and 11 third-degree felonies.

On March 1, Salt Lake police responded to a report of shots fired near 1051 E. 2100 South.

"Upon arrival, officers were directed to a parking lot north of the club, where they located multiple spent shell casings and blood," according to charging documents.

Detectives were given surveillance video by the club owner which showed "a group of approximately 20 individuals in the parking lot when Diego Campos-Andrade shoved the victim … initiating a physical fight involving multiple people. After several minutes, Campos-Andrade produced a firearm and fired multiple rounds into the ground, then fired additional rounds toward the feet of the surrounding group," the charges state.

One man was struck in the leg and suffered what police described as 'minor" injuries. Twelve shell casings were recovered by police at the scene.

Detectives were able to identify Campos-Adrade as the suspected gunman after talking to witnesses and reviewing cellphone data.
