Myles Lewis-Skelly has been linked with a move away from Arsenal at the end of the season.

The 19-year-old left back has struggled for regular opportunities at the London club, and he needs to play more often at this stage of his career. Manchester United would be prepared to provide him with an exit in the summer.

Man United make their move for Myles Lewis-Skelly

According to Ben Jacobs, Manchester United have already made an enquiry for the 19-year-old and rate the player highly. The defender is reportedly open to exploring a move in order to play more often next season. However, Manchester United have not approached Arsenal yet. In addition, they will need to convince the young defender that the move would be ideal for his development.

“United made an informal enquiry, they like him,” Jacobs said (h/t TEAMtalk). “The player is prepared to explore options in order to seek more game time.
“If someone wants to approach club-to-club talks, they’ll have to overpay. Suitors will need to get Lewis-Skelly to buy into the move first, in order to convince Arsenal to negotiate.”

Man United could nurture Lewis-Skelly

Manchester United has a rich history of grooming young players. They could help the 19-year-old develop further and fulfil his potential. They need more quality in the left-back department, and the Arsenal youngster could be the ideal long-term replacement for Luke Shaw.

Manchester United have the financial muscle to get the deal done, and it remains to be seen whether they can convince the young defender. Lewis-Skelly has played just 312 minutes in the Premier League this season.

Convincing Arsenal to sell the player will be difficult as well. The Gunners will not want to lose a promising young player like him, but they are not able to accommodate him in the starting lineup either. They might have to reluctantly let him leave, but they will not want to sell to a direct rival.
