Chelsea keen on signing Jhon Lucumi

Jhon Lucumi has been linked with a move away from Bologna this summer.
He’s a target for Italian club Juventus, but Chelsea are also firmly in the race to secure his signature. The Colombian would prefer to stay in Italy and move to Juventus. It remains to be seen if Chelsea can convince the player to join the club. If Juventus fails to get the deal done, Chelsea are the second-best placed to secure the transfer.
According to Quotidiano Sportivo, Bologna will hold out for a fee of €25 million for the defender. It is no secret that she need more depth in the defensive unit, and they were quite poor at the back last season. They need to tighten up defensively if they want to finish higher up the table. Signing the Colombian defender could be a wise decision for them.
Lucumi has the physicality to adapt to English football, and he’s at the peak of his career as well. The 28-year-old has been a reliable performer in Italy over the last few seasons, and he has shown his quality in European football as well. There is no doubt that he has the quality to succeed at Chelsea, and he could be an upgrade on players like Benoit Badiashile.
The asking price is quite reasonable for the 28-year-old, and Chelsea have the resources to get the deal across the line. They should look to wrap up the move quickly.
The Blues certainly have more financial resources compared to Juventus. The Italian club is currently in contact with the player’s representatives, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
