Aston Villa keen on Jonathan David

Juventus striker Jonathan David has been linked with a move away from the Italian club this summer.

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing the player, as per Gazzetta dello Sport. He has also been linked with clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal. The 26-year-old has not been able to live up to expectations in Italy, and he scored just eight goals in all competitions last season.

Unai Emery is an admirer of the striker, and he wants to sign the player this summer. Aston Villa need more depth in the attacking unit, and David could be ideal for them. He has previously shown his quality in France, and he can score consistently. A fresh start could help him regain his form and confidence.

Before his move to Italy, he scored more than 25 goals in each of his last three seasons with Lille.

There is no doubt that he is a quality player, and a move to the Premier League would be ideal for him. Aston Villa need more options in the final third, and David could share the goal-scoring burden with Ollie Watkins. Aston Villa will be competing in the UEFA Champions League in the upcoming campaign, and they need a deeper squad with more quality.

It will be interesting to see if the West Midlands club follow up on their interest with an official proposal to get the deal done. They have the resources to convince Juventus, and the Italian club could look to cut their ties with the player. They signed the player for free, and they will be able to make a profit on him this summer.
