Manchester United are expected to revive their interest in RB Leipzig captain David Raum as Michael Carrick looks to strengthen the left side of his defence in 2027.
The 28-year-old Germany international has entered the final year of his Leipzig contract and could become available for a reduced fee in January.

United considered Raum during the summer but ultimately focused their spending elsewhere, particularly on rebuilding the midfield.
His contract situation now makes him an increasingly realistic option, especially with Leipzig keen to avoid losing their captain for nothing next summer.
Raum has given green light to Man United move
According to TEAMtalk, Man United are expected to renew their pursuit of Raum, with sources indicating that the defender would welcome the opportunity to move to Old Trafford.
Juventus are also interested, but United are currently viewed as one of the strongest contenders for his signature.
Raum’s contract expires in June 2027, and Leipzig have yet to agree an extension despite plans to hold talks with the player and his representatives. The Bundesliga club could therefore be forced to consider offers during the January transfer window.
TEAMtalk suggests a fee of around £30million may be enough to begin negotiations.
Raum has previously acknowledged receiving enquiries from elsewhere while insisting his immediate focus remains on Leipzig.
Raum could offer United experience they desperately need
United’s interest makes plenty of sense.
Left-back remains an area the club want to strengthen, particularly with Luke Shaw now 31 and approaching the end of his current contract.
United have also looked at alternatives including Alejandro Balde and Lewis Hall, showing that the position remains a major recruitment priority.
A separate report from Sports Mole also states that Raum is interested in joining United, despite competition from Juventus and other European clubs.
Raum would bring immediate experience. He is Leipzig’s captain, a regular Germany international and an attacking full-back capable of contributing with crosses, set-pieces and forward runs.
The main question is whether United would pay around £30m for a player who could become available without a transfer fee only months later.
However, waiting until the summer would increase competition. If United genuinely see Raum as an important part of their defensive rebuild, January may provide the best opportunity to move before rival clubs become more aggressive.
