Chelsea recently parted ways with Liam Rosenior, and they have yet to bring in a permanent replacement.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Porto manager Francesco Farioli is now a strong contender to take over at Chelsea. The club hierarchy is keen on the Italian manager, and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done.
Farioli has been outstanding for Porto, winning 37 of his 50 matches in charge. He has lost just five matches in that time.
He is still only 37, and he has a huge future ahead of himself. He’s one of the most talented young managers in the game, and his progressive style of football could be a good fit for Chelsea. They have quality players at their disposal, and the right manager could bring out the best in them. It remains to be seen whether Farioli is prepared to take over at the Premier League club. He was linked with a move to England during his time at Ajax as well.
Chelsea has had a mediocre season so far, and they could miss out on Champions League qualification for the upcoming campaign. They must look to plug the gaps in their squad during the summer transfer window and bring in a quality manager. The 37-year-old could be an interesting long-term choice.
However, they will need to give him the backing and the time to turn things around. Rosenior had done an impressive job at Strasbourg before the move to Chelsea as well. However, his time at the London club lasted for just 106 days.
Chelsea will need more stability if they want to build a formidable team for the future.
