Arsenal’s search for another high-level left winger has taken a dramatic turn, with the Gunners reportedly making contact over a possible move for Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola.
The 23-year-old has become one of the biggest names on the summer transfer market, and Liverpool have been working on a deal for several weeks.

Arsenal’s emergence could now complicate matters and potentially create a major Premier League bidding battle.
Barcola certainly fits what Mikel Arteta appears to want. He offers explosive pace, direct running and the ability to beat defenders one-on-one, while his age means Arsenal would be investing in someone who could still improve significantly.
Arsenal contact Barcola’s camp to explore move
According to GiveMeSport, Arsenal have made contact regarding Barcola as they consider attempting to hijack Liverpool’s move for the France international.
Liverpool, though, are already further along in the process. Sky Sports reported that the Reds had held preliminary discussions with PSG, although there remains a significant gap between the clubs over his valuation.
PSG are reportedly demanding around £145 million for Barcola, which has made Liverpool’s attempt to complete the transfer difficult.
A move to Anfield is also said to appeal to the winger, giving Arsenal another obstacle to overcome if they decide to push ahead.
Can Gunners sign the French winger ahead of Liverpool?
There is plenty of logic behind Arsenal’s interest. Barcola could provide the unpredictability and explosiveness Arteta wants on the left, particularly against teams that defend deep and leave little space between the lines.
The bigger question is whether he is worth anything close to PSG’s valuation.
At £145 million, Arsenal would be entering British-record territory for a player who, despite his enormous potential, is not yet the finished product.
Liverpool’s involvement could also push the price even higher.
Arsenal should therefore keep the conversation open without becoming desperate.
If PSG lower their demands, Barcola would be an outstanding addition and could solve the left-wing position for years.
Hijacking Liverpool would make headlines, but Arsenal’s priority should be finding the right winger at the right price rather than simply winning a transfer battle.
