Taylor Swift, Alanis Morissette inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame
by Annie Martin · UPIJune 12 (UPI) -- Taylor Swift and Alanis Morissette were among the honorees Thursday at the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
The pair attended the event at the New York Marriott Marquis, along with fellow inductees Kenny Loggins, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS, Walter Afanasieff, Terry Britten and Graham Lyle, and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart.
Filmmaker Steven Spielberg introduced Swift, 36, who made history by becoming the youngest woman to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
In her 21-minute speech, Swift thanked her family and called songwriting "instinctual" and "the easiest thing I ever did" in all of the ups and downs of her career.
Swift's parents, Scott and Andrea Swift, her fiance, NFL star Travis Kelce, and her future mother-in-law, Donna Kelce, joined her at the ceremony.
Singer-songwriter Sombr performed a tribute to Swift, covering her songs "Cardigan" and "Dear John."
