Minnesota Supreme Court rejects Mike Lindell's primary recount effort
· UPIAug. 30 (UPI) -- The Minnesota Supreme Court rejected Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Lindell's requests for a recount in his party's primary election earlier this month.
Chief Justice Natalie Hudson wrote Saturday that the My Pillow founder declined to pay the $825,000 cost for the recount. Lindell also missed a deadline on Aug. 24 to provide assurances he could pay for the recount.
Lindell told NBC News he would appeal Hudson's ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Hudson's ruling upholds Republican Lisa Demuth's primary win. She finished with 45,000 more votes than Lindell.
Lindell on Aug. 12 questioned the primary's results, saying in a news conference there were "deviations [that] came right at the end." He said he would pay for a recount. However, he later said the recount process was illegal and paused the payments.
Officials have given no indications there was any irregularity or fraud in the results.
