Feb. 4 (UPI) -- The Dallas Mavericks agreed to trade Anthony Davis to the Washington Wizards in an eight-player deal.

Sources told ESPN, The Athletic and the Dallas Morning News about the transaction on Wednesday.

The Mavericks agreed to send Davis and guards Jaden Hardy, D'Angelo Russell and Dante Exum to the Wizards. The Wizards will send forwards Khris Middleton and Marvin Bagley III, guards A.J. Johnson and Malaki Branham, two first-round NBA Draft picks and three second-round selections to the Mavericks.

Davis, 32, is under contract for $58.4 million this season, but has a player option of $62.7 million next season. The 10-time All-Star and five-time All-NBA selection averaged 20.4 points per game this season, his lowest total since his 2012 rookie campaign.

The oft-injured forward hasn't played since early January due to a hand injury.

Middleton, 34, is set to hit free agency this off-season. The three-time All-Star averaged 10.2 points per game this season, which also was his lowest total since his 2012 rookie campaign. He chipped in 3.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game through his first 34 appearances this season for the Wizards.

Middleton, who joined the Wizards in a trade last February from the Milwaukee Bucks, averaged 11.9 points, 4.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game over 21 appearances last season, while limited by ankle issues.

The Mavericks (19-31), who are on a five-game losing streak, sit in 12th place in the Western Conference. They will host the second-place San Antonio Spurs (33-16) at 8:30 p.m. EST Thursday in Dallas.

The Wizards (13-36), who lost two of their last three games, sit in 14th place in the Eastern Conference. They will battle the first-place Detroit Pistons (37-12) at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Detroit.

The NBA trade deadline is at 3 p.m. EST Thursday.
