Aug. 4 (UPI) -- The Atlanta Falcons and Bijan Robinson agreed to a three-year contract extension worth up to $75 million, a source familiar with the pact told UPI on Tuesday.

Robinson's contract, which will make him the highest-paid running back in NFL history, includes $51 million in guarantees and $37 million at signing.

Robinson, 24, totaled a league-best 2,298 yards from scrimmage and 11 scores on a career-high 366 touches over 17 starts last season. He earned first-team All-Pro honors for those efforts.

The No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft totaled 3,910 rushing yards and 25 scores on 805 carries though his first three seasons. He also caught 198 passes for 1,738 yards and nine scores during that span. Robinson made the Pro Bowl each of the last two seasons.

The Falcons opted to exercise the fifth-year option for 2027 in Robinson's rookie deal in April. They will host the Denver Broncos in their preseason opener Aug. 14 in Atlanta.
