The news comes shortly after the 31 year old singer shared a series of personal moments with his fans on Snapchat during his visit to the country.
Before the tragic announcement, Liam had posted a shirtless photo of himself with his girlfriend in a black bikini while enjoying his time in Argentina. He was actively engaging with his followers on Snapchat, giving them glimpses into his activities.
Liam also shared a video of himself and his girlfriend Kate Cassidy having breakfast, where he mentioned they were "enjoying coffee" at around 1pm.

Liam updated his Snapchat audience about their plans to go horse riding and even considered playing Polo again, despite acknowledging that it was "hard to do" and humorously commenting on the potential neck and back pain from swinging the mallet, reports the Express US.
He also uploaded a picture of a black dog sleeping between his legs, cheekily asking his fans to "caption this." These posts appeared just 45 minutes before the news of Liam's death was made public.
Tragically, at the age of 31, Liam Payne suffered a fatal fall from the fourth floor of a hotel in Argentina. The ex-One Direction member, who had a following of 1.32 million subscribers, also expressed his love for art by showing some artwork nearby.
While staying in the Palermo district of Buenos Aires, local reports indicate that he fell from the fourth floor of his hotel. The circumstances surrounding his death, whether it was an accident or suicide, are still unknown, with investigations ongoing.
Eyewitnesses told TMZ that the singer was acting oddly before his untimely death, even smashing his laptop at one point. He was said to have been escorted from the hotel lobby to his room.
Liam was a member of the popular boy band One Direction, alongside Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Harry Styles. The group was formed on the reality TV show X-Factor in 2010 by Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger. The band experienced a shake-up when Zayn left in 2015, which eventually led to the band's "hiatus."
Crowds of fans in their hundreds have been lighting candles outside the hotel in tribute to the singer. Some hugged each other and cried, while others, in a sign of their adoration for the One Direction star, burst into applause.
In a beautiful display of unity fans embraced each other on the street as Liam's body was taken away in a police van. Candles have been lit and placed in the street to pay tribute to the popstar. No doubt as dawn breaks more fans will line the streets to pay their respects.
