Former Bafana midfielder victorious after long-running dispute

Lawyer confirms victory

Andile Jali's lawyer, Thembelani Mpakati, has confirmed the victory against Chippa United, with the DRC ordering the club to pay the former Bafana Bafana star what he is owed.

"Andile Jali had a contract with Chippa United which expired in June 2025. In terms of the contract, Chippa United was to pay a certain amount for the services. Upon expiry, Chippa United failed to pay what was due and payable to my client in terms of the contract, which constituted a breach of contract."

"After several attempts to approach the club that yielded no results, we were left with no choice but to institute a claim against Chippa United at the DRC in terms of the PSL Handbook," Mpakati told KickOff.

A familiar pattern at Chippa

Chippa United escaped FIFA sanction earlier this year after being forced to pay Luc Eymael a sum of R250,000 due to unpaid payments to the Belgian coach.

Eymael took Chippa to FIFA following their failure to pay a settlement after his contract was terminated by the club during the 2025/26 season — meaning the Eastern Cape outfit now have a recurring pattern of financial disputes with former technical team members and players.

For Jali, the ruling brings closure to a protracted legal battle and ensures that the former Bafana Bafana star receives what he is rightfully owed after a distinguished playing career.
