Motaung Jr. responds to big question over Chiefs co-coaches
by Clifton Mabasa · KickOffKaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has addressed growing speculation surrounding the future of the club's co-coaches, Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef.
The two tacticians first joined the Glamour Boys as assistant coaches to Nasreddine Nabi in 2024 before taking charge in October 2025 following the Tunisian mentor's dismissal.

Since then, despite guiding Chiefs to a third-place finish and CAF Confederation Cup qualification for next season, their future at the Soweto giants has remained uncertain.
While some supporters have called for changes on the bench, others believe the duo deserve more time at the club.
When asked whether Kaze and Ben Youssef would remain at Naturena for the 2026/27 season, Motaung Jr. remained reluctant to give a definitive answer on the future of the co-coaches.
After Chiefs wrapped up their campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Chippa United, the former striker instead chose to praise the technical team for the progress made during the season.
"Well, I think now everyone can see the vast defensive shape that we have had right now and how we have had one of our best sort of goal differences in many years," Motaung said on SuperSport TV on Saturday.
"Everyone behind the scenes has worked very hard and the co-coaches themselves must take a lot of credit. The players must take a lot of credit.
Team work praised
Motaung Jr. also said their recruitment department must take a lot of credit because everything is a culmination of the work and planning they put in.
"Today, for example, we also must give credit to the coaches. We have an average age of 20 years and I think 21 days on the pitch today.
"We have given a debut to someone like Takalani [Mazhamba], which testament goes to coach [Ilyes] Mzoughi, who believes in our young talent, understands how important it is to groom them.

"I mean Taka, to be the age of 18, youngest goalkeeper to make a debut since 1998, a lot of bravery from the coaches, looking to plan for the future."
Moreover, despite the praise, Motaung Jr. stopped short of confirming whether the co-coaches will remain in charge next season.
"So, I think obviously this is the last game. We rewind down, sit down, consolidate all reports and see the way forward."
