Kaizer Chiefs have been dealt a selection headache ahead of their return to Betway Premiership action, with four key players set to miss Tuesday's clash against Stellenbosch FC.

Amakhosi will be eager to hit the ground running after a three-week break since their last match, but coach Fernando Da Cruz will have to make do without several players.

Four Chiefs stars sidelined

The Glamour Boys have provided an update on their injury situation, with Brandon Petersen, Lebohang Maboe, Langelihle Phili and Siphesihle Ndlovu all sidelined.

"Chiefs still have four major injury concerns, with Brandon Petersen returning to individual training recovering a knee injury," the club's statement reads.

"Lebohang Maboe, who has played in all eight of Chiefs’ games this season, is nursing an ankle injury, while Phili and Siphesihle Ndlovu remain long-term absentees."

The absences leave Da Cruz with selection decisions to make ahead of the midweek fixture as Chiefs look to maintain their position among the league's frontrunners.

Baartman fitness being monitored

Chiefs are also monitoring Luke Baartman's fitness after the attacker picked up a knock while on international duty with the South African U23 side.

The former Cape Town Spurs forward returned to Naturena after the back-to-back friendly matches against Algeria, with the club's medical team keeping a close eye on his condition ahead of the meeting with Stellies.

Chiefs target winning return

The Naturena-based giants currently occupy fourth place on the league table after collecting 13 points from their opening seven matches, winning three and drawing four.

A victory would take Amakhosi to 16 points and help them keep pace with the frontrunners as the 2026/26 Betway Premiership campaign gathers momentum.

The two sides meet at FNB Stadium on Tuesday, with kick-off scheduled for 19:30 as Chiefs look to resume their league campaign on a positive note.
