South African striker set for US move
Lyle Foster's uncertain future at Burnley appears to be reaching a conclusion, with the publication claiming that the Premier League side and MLS outfit Houston Dynamo are finalising talks for the Bafana Bafana striker.
Foster is set to move from England to the United States on an initial loan deal, with the report adding that the agreement will include a $7 million option to buy in June 2027.
Medical completed
The 25-year-old reportedly underwent his medical in the US on Tuesday, suggesting that the switch is in its final stages. Notably, it is said that Foster will not sign as a Designated Player, which indicates that his salary will remain within the limits of the MLS salary cap — a detail that suggests the deal has been structured to accommodate both club and player.
Offers from elsewhere rejected
According to Transfermarkt, Foster also had offers from France and Germany but opted for a move to the United States instead, pointing to a deliberate choice rather than a lack of alternatives.
The South African international has struggled for game time at Turf Moor under new Belgian manager Nicky Hayen, who recently cast doubt over the striker's future at the club.
A familiar connection
Although Houston Dynamo look set to welcome their first South African international, the city of Houston is no stranger to Mzansi talent. The Dynamo's women's side, Houston Dash, have previously housed Banyana Banyana stars such as Janine van Wyk, Thembi Kgatlana and Linda Motlhalo — meaning Foster would be following in the footsteps of his compatriots, albeit at a different club in the same city.
