Hurricanes blow Chiefs away to secure Super Rugby Pacific title

by · KickOff

The Hurricanes have won the Super Rugby Pacific title for 2026 with an emphatic display against the Chiefs in the final.

The home side dominated proceedings, running away with a 60-5 win after leading 29-0 at half-time.

Playing with the wind — and it was howling — the Hurricanes got off to the perfect start when winger Josh Moorby received the ball out wide, cut inside and took two Chiefs defenders over the line for a 5-0 lead in the seventh minute.

The Hurricanes continued to dominate the half, and further tries followed for Ruben Love, Fehi Fineanganofo and Callum Harkin followed, while Love kicked a penalty as the home side took a 29-0 lead into half-time.

Moorby's second try, early in the second half, effectively ended the match as a contest, as the Hurricanes extended their lead to 36-0.

But the Hurricanes weren't done, and scored furthert tries through Devan Flanders, Jordie Barrett, Love and Jone Rova, while Seuseu Naitoa Ah Kuoi scored a consolation try for the Chiefs.

It was as dominant a display as you will ever see from the best side in Super Rugby this year.
