Mortal Kombat Dev Is Reportedly Working on DC Fighting Game Sequel Injustice 3

by Stephen Tailby · Push SquareNetherRealm Studios, the team behind the massively popular Mortal Kombat series, may be developing a sequel to its other fighting game franchise.
That's according to a recent report from MP1st, which claims that Injustice 3 is currently in development at the studio.
Per the report, an unnamed artist working at WB Games shared the many titles they've contributed to on their resume, and it seems they accidentally included Injustice 3 among them. An image in the report appears to show the game's name clearly mentioned.
NetherRealm's last game was Mortal Kombat 1, which launched back in 2023, and while the team has been working on updates and DLC in the meantime, you have to presume work has begun on the next game from the studio.
The MP1st report also mentions comments from DC Studios CEO James Gunn; he spoke in 2025 about meeting with NetherRealm (as well as Rocksteady Studios) about DC-related games and collaborating on characters and story.
Injustice hasn't been seen since the launch of Injustice 2 in 2017, despite very positive reviews.
Obviously this isn't outright confirmation of Injustice 3, but it does seem as though the stars are aligning somewhat.
