Two-wheeler riders accounted for the majority of the violations, with 4,038 cases. The police also booked 38 three-wheeler drivers and 121 motorists driving four-wheelers.
The traffic police cautioned motorists against using mobile phones on the road. As per police, the practice can divert motorists’ attention and delay their response to sudden situations.
Such distractions increase the chances of road accidents and put not only drivers but also other road users at risk.
Hyderabad Traffic Police said it would maintain a zero-tolerance approach towards mobile phone use while driving. Special enforcement campaigns will also be organised regularly to curb the violation and improve road safety.
