Bengaluru: Consumers who have missed the household survey of Gruha Jyothi beneficiaries have been asked by BESCOM to submit their documents at the respective subdivision offices by October 31.

The electricity utility has warned that the deadline will not be extended, describing the date as the final opportunity for those who have not completed the survey.

The Karnataka government has provided an alternative for consumers whose houses were found locked or vacant, as well as those who were unable to participate when survey staff visited. Such consumers can personally visit their BESCOM subdivision offices and provide the required documents within the stipulated period.

The survey has been in progress for around three-and-a-half months across BESCOM’s eight-district jurisdiction. The beneficiary list includes consumers covered under Bhagya Jyothi, Kutira Jyothi and Amruta Jyothi schemes, in addition to Gruha Jyothi.

BESCOM has a total of 74,29,773 beneficiaries in these categories. By October 22, the survey had been completed for 73,17,687 consumers, representing 98.49 per cent of the total.

As part of the exercise, BESCOM employees visited locked and vacant houses three times. Mobile phone messages were also sent to the concerned consumers, urging them to take part in the survey.

Despite these efforts, some beneficiaries have yet to complete the process. BESCOM has now asked them to approach their respective subdivision offices with the necessary documents before the deadline. The utility has reiterated that October 31 is the last date and that no extension is planned.
