LETTER: Erecting roadblocks to water solutions
by Kent Davidson Las Vegas · Las Vegas Review-JournalI read with interest Bruce Feher’s Wednesday letter about the “many problems” with desalination. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry after I read it.
Many on the left are desperate to come up with problems to every solution. In the case of our lack of water, Mr. Feher dusted off the time-honored and dreaded climate change and environmental impact issue to question desalination. Apparently desalination makes the ocean saltier, and the desalination process creates high CO2 emissions that contribute to air pollution. Oh, well. So much for that idea. We would hate to have a saltier ocean if it means having water to drink. We may die of thirst, but at least the air will be cleaner.
We cannot solve these problems and at the same time make everyone happy with the solution. Let’s get moving on fixing the water issue and stop allowing climate alarmists to stop every worthy project. Enough already.
