CCSD special ed aide faces child abuse, battery charges

A Clark County School District elementary school special education teacher assistant was arrested Monday in connection to child abuse and battery allegations, police said.

School district police arrested Lisa Harris, 65, on Monday. She faces one felony charge of child abuse or neglect and one gross misdemeanor charge of abuse of a vulnerable person, online court records show.

Harris, a school district employee since October 2000, most recently worked at Perkins Elementary School in North Las Vegas, school district police said in an email. Her arrest stems from an investigation initiated at the school on Monday, according to school district police.

Harris has been place on unpaid leave, per the terms of the negotiated agreement with her bargaining unit. Court records show she is scheduled to have a pretrial custody status hearing on Tuesday.
