Arbor View advances past Shadow Ridge in the 5A boys state volleyball semis

Gunnar Robinson had 11 kills and seven digs Thursday and led third-seeded Arbor View to a 25-20, 25-23, 25-23 road victory over second-seeded Shadow Ridge in the 5A boys state volleyball semifinals.

The victory lifted the Aggies into the championship match, where they will face Centennial Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Sunrise Mountain.

Keagan Sugden logged 33 assists to help Arbor View.

No. 1 Centennial 3, No. 5 Basic 0: At Centennial, Lincoln Larson had 22 kills, two service aces and two blocks as the Bulldogs cruised past the Wolves to advance to the finals.

Parker Teal added 11 kills and six digs for Centennial, and teammate Ty Ahlstrom had 16 digs and 19 service receptions.

3A boys state volleyball semifinals

No. 1 Boulder City 3, No. 5 Virgin Valley 0: David Zwhalen recorded 20 digs and 10 kills to help the Eagles sweep past the Bulldogs 25-10, 25-20, 25-19.

Gibson Lamoreaux added 11 digs, eight kills and three aces for Boulder City, which will play Moapa Valley for the championship at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sunrise Mountain.

No. 3 Moapa Valley 3, No. 2 Coral Academy 1: At Coral Academy, the Pirates upset the Falcons 25-15, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18 to advance to the finals.

4A state baseball playoffs

No. 1D Silverado 4, No. 4M Cheyenne 0: At Las Vegas High School, Hogan Hawkins struck out 11 while going the distance on the mound to get the win as the Skyhawks beat the Desert Shields.

Hana Udac had two hits for Silverado and teammate Giovanni Gauriglia hit his 16th home run of the season.

Silverado will play Clark at Las Vegas in the winners bracket quarterfinals at 11 a.m. Saturday. Cheyenne hosts SLAM! Nevada at 4 p.m. Friday in an elimination game.

No. 2S Rancho 7, No. 1M Clark 5: At Clark, the Chargers defeated the Rams by forfeit after a pitch count violation was determined after the game. Rancho will host Canyon Springs at 4 p.m. Thursday,

No. 1S Mater East 16, No. 3M Doral Academy 1: At Mater East, Andres Matheus went 4-for-4 with a double and four RBIs to lead the Knights past the Dragons.

Benson Ornelas added two hits and four RBIs for Mater East, which hosts Tech at 11 a.m. in the quarterfinals Saturday. Doral Academy plays Western in a 4 p.m. elimination game Friday at Grand Park.

No. 2D Tech 1, No. 2M Spring Valley 0: At Tech, Briggs Barlow singled in the game’s only run in the first inning as the Roadrunners beat the Grizzlies.

Carter Sekikawa pitched 4.1 innings to earn the win for Tech. Spring Valley plays at Del Sol at 4 p.m. Thursday in an elimination game.

3A Southern League baseball playoffs

No. 1 Boulder City 15, No. 4 Virgin Valley 7: At Boulder City, Ethan Wagstaff went 3-for-4 with a double and five RBIs in the Eagles’ win over the Bulldogs.

Spencer Aten went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs to help Boulder City, which hosts The Meadows at 12:30 p.m. Friday in the semifinals. Virgin Valley plays Pahrump Valley in a 10 a.m. elimination game Friday at Boulder City.

No. 2 The Meadows 4, No. 3 Pahrump Valley 3: At Boulder City, Mox Hoy went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs as the Mustangs rallied with four runs in the fourth inning to beat the Trojans.

Keegan Sabelko pitched 4.2 innings to earn the victory for The Meadows.

No. 1D Faith Lutheran 15, No. 4M Las Vegas 0: At Faith Lutheran, Madison Pitts pitched a three-inning no-hitter to lead the Crusaders past the Wildcats.

Zoey Brager went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Faith Lutheran, which hosts Foothill at 11 a.m. Saturday. Las Vegas hosts Sierra Vista in an elimination game at 4 p.m. Friday.

No. 2S Foothill 12, No. 1M Legacy 6: At Legacy, Leah Henderson went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs in the Falcons’ 12-6 win over Legacy.

Henderson also pitched 4.1 innings to earn the victory for Foothill.

Legacy hosts SLAM! Nevada at 4 p.m. Friday in an elimination game.

No. 3D Spring Valley 8, No. 1S Tech 7: At Tech, Sophie Bowmer and Isabella Lenahan homered for the Grizzlies, who held off a late rally to edge the Roadrunners.

Kate Romero and Aubree Holcombe had three hits apiece to help Spring Valley, which plays at Desert Oasis at 11 a.m. Saturday in a quarterfinal game. Tech hosts Cimarron-Memorial at 4 p.m. Friday in an elimination game.

No. 2D Desert Oasis 25, No. 4S Silverado 0: At Bonanza, Kaitlyn Dunigan had a home run, two doubles and six RBIs as the Diamondbacks needed just three innings to defeat the Skyhawks.

Ali Perkins added a home run, a double and four RBIs for Desert Oasis, and teammate Cassidy Infante pitched a no-hitter.

3A Southern League softball playoffs

No. 1 Pahrump Valley 15, No. 4 Moapa Valley 0: At Boulder City, Jaycie Hayes went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and four RBIs to help the Trojans roll to a three-inning first-round victory over Moapa Valley at Boulder City High.

Hayes also struck out eight while earning the pitching victory for Pahrump, which plays Virgin Valley in a 12:30 p.m. semifinal Friday. The Pirates will face Boulder City in an elimination game at 10 a.m. Friday, with the winner advancing to an afternoon semifinal.
