Bingo world record
Foxwoods is going all in on bingo on the Fourth of July.
The massive Connecticut casino will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest jackpot payout for a single game of bingo.
Foxwoods’ “40th Anniversary Firecracker Bingo” event will feature more than $1 million in total prizes, including a single cash jackpot prize of $440,000.
The celebration marks 40 years since the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation opened the High Stakes Bingo Hall on July 5, 1986. The 30,000-square-foot hall, with more than 2,200 seats, laid the foundation for the Foxwoods Resort Casino to open in 1992.
“What the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation built 40 years ago wasn’t just a bingo hall. It was a blueprint,” Foxwoods president and CEO Jason Guyot said. “That vision and courage to invest in something that had never been done at that scale on tribal land is the reason Foxwoods exists today. Attempting to set a Guinness World Records title on the same anniversary feels like the right way to honor that legacy, a milestone worthy of the one that started it all.”
According to Guinness World Records, the largest payout for a game of bingo at a single bingo house is 105,000 pounds, the equivalent of approximately $139,237. The record was set at Buzz Bingo Cricklewood, billed as Britain’s biggest bingo club, in London on March 30, 2025.
The South Point hotel-casino is hosting a summer $2 million bingo extravaganza July 17 and 18, and July 21 and 22. But the biggest payout for a single game is $50,000.
Likewise, the Plaza hotel-casino is hosting a $250,000 Super Bingo event Saturday and Sunday. But the single biggest jackpot is $40,000.
Hot dog eating
A Fourth of July tradition as American as it gets comes to New York-New York’s Brooklyn Bridge Saturday afternoon.
The Strip casino will play host to the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest Saturday from 4-5 p.m.
Recognized as an official Major League Eating event, the competition will serve as a qualifying contest for a chance to compete in the world-famous Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island in New York City on July 4, 2027. Competitors will battle for a spot on one of competitive eating’s biggest stages.
The celebration will begin at 3 p.m. with family-friendly festivities on the Brooklyn Bridge in front of New York-New York, including $2.50 food and beverage offerings, oversized games, face painting, live music and more. Admission is free and open to the public. Following the competition, guests can continue enjoying the America 250 Bridge Bash festivities throughout the evening, culminating in a fireworks display at 9 p.m.
